Subject: Long overdue, but finally a review
In reply to: Patrick 's message, "No reviews?" on 11:42:36 04/26/05 Tue

Just seeing this poor little review thread here with no actual responses just got me so upset, I had to leave a review to help put it out of its misery. Sorry, I would have had one in earlier, but I was busy with finals and other schoolwork. With luck, I'll have a review for Johnny Knoxville's show in June, rofl. Und now, ze reviews!

Income Tax Penalty: The absurdity of this sketch was superb, and the dialogue hilarious. I love sketches like this that reach into surrealism but still keep a solid grounding in reality. By far, the best CO of the season.

Tom Brady's Monologue: Some good meta-references at monologue cliches, and the Brady Bunch jokes were very nice. Far better than the monologue from the actual Tom Brady episode (It's been a month and the nightmares still occur.)

McDonald's Ad - John Malkovich: Sorry, but this didn't appeal to me. I don't know if this is how Malkovich actually acts, but his lines were not humorous whatsoever.

Preston Publishing: My sketch, and I'm quite pleased with it, but looking back I feel bad that I used the name "Michael" too much. Perhaps I should have changed the Supreme Court joke to "former Chief Justice Phillip Miashole."

The Colosseum: Well, for one thing, the character's names are Greek rather than Roman, which doesn't really fit for a sketch set in ancient Rome. The basic idea for this was interesting, but it just wasn't carried out in a relatively funny manner. The ending was quite cliche, so there was no improvement in the payoff.

Time to Decide: This was hilarious. My only complaint is that the cardinals should have had more appropriate names, like Cardinal Fernando or the like.

McDonald's Ad - Woody Allen: A couple of funny lines, but Woody Allen parodies are quite dated and have lost their comedic appeal. Props for the "eating Chinese" bit, though.

The Minuteman Project: Another sketch skewing (then)-current events, it was a little hard to follow chronologically with the setting jumping from place to place, but it was very amusing. The lesbian jokes were a little tasteless, but overall it was quite funny.

Chameleon Man and the New Recruits: Not the best outing for this recurring character. It had some good points, like a legion of super heroes chastizing a member who isn't as powerful as the rest of them, but the scenario was lacking in humor. Also, I felt a little cheated that you didn't let us know what the powers of each hero were.

Names Have Been Changed to Protect The Innocent: Best of the show; it was surreal, blue, surprising, and totally hilarious.

Celebrity Rehab: Blech, more celebrity parodies. I'd hate to say this, but I'm getting sick of these cliched stereotypes. I'd like to see some newer parodies, like when I did Ralph Nader as an anti-Semite, or Regis Philbin as a closet pervert.

Always a Wager To Be Made: A so-so sketch, it had some good lines and an interesting concept, but overall it kind of fell flat.

McDonald's Ad - Donald Trump: Please see my above critiques about tired old celebrity spoofing to learn my opinion of this one.
