Here we go with another installment of our summer season. Some more great sketches by people with far more creative talent than about 90% of the SNL writing crew. Sorry I didn't get anything in this week, I had trouble fleshing out my cannibalism sketch (get it, cannibalism, "fleshing" out)... okay, let's forget about that. On to the reviews!

Hurricane Dennis Coverage - a unique new take on the phony newscast sketches, I liked how it overemphasized sponsorship rather than focusing on annoying theme music or an immense news team. The reporters fit the scene quite well by showing interest in nothing but how the businesses were doing in their sales. Nice job.

Monologue - After Justin's killer piece from the Lewis Black episode, the other monologues have a lot of work to do to surpass that greatness. This one, however, did not put the effort into it. The host mentions her lust for a cast member - done before. A cast member interrupts the host and they have an inappropriate discussion - done before. Breast jokes - done. And I even booed the London bit. No offense, but this monologue was as lame as Christopher Reeve.

Synchronized Snoring Summer Camp - the second installment of Brian Dean's brainchild scenario, and just as good as the first one. Once again, the dialogue was hilarious, and having such a competitive focus on such an inane event was killer. However, Brian, I might recommend that you don't get stuck in a cliched niche. Try branching out into other sketch realms. You enjoy skits that focus on the female cast members - why not write one where a team of women criminals is planning a big heist? Work in the quirks and stereotypes and apply it to the scene (sans snoring or falling asleep, though perhaps a narcoleptic criminal would be humorous), and you've got another winner. Of course, it's just a suggestion.

He's Getting Away - this was hilarious, the best cop sketch since CCS' "Speeding Ticket". Officers HArvest and Martin have great potential, I'd love to see them in future sketches as they fail to protect and serve.

"The Wedding Crashers Are Coming To..." Screw it, the title is too long - and the sketch was too dull. I'll say it again, I'm not much of a fan of celebrity parodies, even when they're put into strange situations. And they're causing a scene just to promote their movie? Sorry, but it just didn't appeal to me.

Not Without my I-POD: This was great. It has a feel of a sketch I want to work on, where a private eye (like one from the film noirs of the 1940s) is irritated by his assistant who plays background music on his MP3 player to fit the mood. It was a very clever sketch - nice job working the songs into it, and their pre-set track listing were really funny.

Buzzer Beater - this had potential, but for some reason it's taking 20 years to fall into the basket was anti-climactic. The "Fake beards" was a nice touch though.

REal Celebrity Moment II - again, I'm sick of the cliched celebrity parodies, and this one didn't even try to be funny.

The Assassin and the Jumper - good premise, interesting twist at the end, but lacking in humorous dialogue. Still, not bad for a first-timer. Welcome to the show, Caterpillar Adams.
