Philip Seymour Hoffmann Review:
I haven’t review our updates in a while, but here goes. I grade on a 10 pt scale, 8 being the highest.

The Bastard: Finally someone tackles Ken Jennings and his winning streak. The best parts of the sketch, were as follows. Alex Trebek drinking and giving hilarious one-liners, and Ken Jennings obsession of answering everything as a question. The sketch premises was great, but it fell through in the end. The crying was unusual, and I did not find it funny. However, you managed to save it with the “What is Live from New York.......”. But for the most part you had a good sketch. The transitions were great, and I especially liked the part about Alex always sleeping with his winners. 7 out 10.

I do get out of Order, but I will do every sketch.

Spider Jam: This was one the many geek sketches on SNY. I have read three of them, this one, as well as the Elijah wood monolouge one, and the one where a Star Wars geek dates a normal girl. This was starts out similar tot he Elijah wood, where the geeks point out every technical error. But this one takes the cake. It was different, and a twist with the girl actually pointing out errors as well. But you managed to include everything about nerds, including the inhalers, along with that bit with them taping the film. I found my self laughing non-stop. The end was nice, with the nerds proving their nerdiness in full. Actually, they kind of play out like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, because he obsesses about Wonder-Woman. The only flaw was the names of the nerds. It was getting annoying remembering if who was Felix and who was nerd #1. 8 out 10.

The O’Reily Factor: Well, let there be more cameos, with fired cast-member Jeff Richards. It started out as a great premises. But you went overboard with the New York Minute confusion. It was funny the first time. And there still a couple of funny one-liners from Bill. Overall it was still okay. But you could have played with other things than the New York Minute bit. You could have had them get into a big arguement over something stupid. 5.5 out of 10.

WU: All-Right. This was a really well thought out update. There were some solid jokes, and both bits were hilarious. I enjoyed the build-up from Tina about the Trent Lott murder, and then commentary from both Kenan and Finesse. Kerry telling us how he selected a running mate was good. My favorite jokes were “Garnett Shoes”, “Dildos R Us”, and China’s Nude Beach.
8 out of 10.

President Bush Address: A very well thought out address. Plus the cross promotion of the album on 9/11 was my favorite. I found the timing was correct, and the rap insert was effective. 9 out of 10, because I just found that it just fell short, with the continuation of Bush being more of a rap kind of guy. The humor is good at first, “HAHA, the republican is rapping”. I have seen other sketches where G. DUBYA raps, and it the whole bit itself gets kind of old.

More to come soon!
