Hello their everyone, time once again for the super awesome Jack Farrell SNY Review. Once again I would like to apologize for my tardiness so everyone can take the noose down from their hooks and put the tops of the bottles of the sleeping pills back on, its time for the review

First though as promised here is my review of the new film Open Water

Open Water

Like the Blair Witch phenomenon a few years back, Open Water goes out into the ocean with a minuscule budget as well as a great concept, two people get left out in the middle of the ocean alone. While this film does come off a lot better then the blair witch crapfest did for me I still wouldnt give Open Water too much praise. The film is short (less than 80 minutes) and the script really doesnt have that much to say. What keeps the film afloat is the good acting of its two leads as well as the threat a group of local sharks pose to the divers. Also the ending is not your typical hollywood BS. If your looking for an okay way to kill a couple of hours go see it, but dont go into it thinking this is the "Jaws" of the new generation cause believe me it aint.

Also here are my tv picks for the week
Tuesday-nothing
Wednesday-Drew Carey show 9 and 9:30 eastern time
Thursday-nothing
Friday-zip
Saturday-Well their is one show... no wait nothing

Now on to the rest of the review

Spider Jam
"Spider Jam, Spider Jam, does whatever a spider can"

I wasnt personally that nuts about this sketch. Geek humor is something that is very hard to do. If you get to into their type of humor you kind of lose the audience. If you get too general you start to become less faithful to the spirit of the geek. This is the kind of sketch that may look better performed than written but still a nice effort.

O'Reilly Factor

"Who the hell is Bill O'Reilly"

Much like the rest of America I get a lot of my news from Jon Stewarts The Daily Show so O'Reilly is kind of lost on me. This sketch was funny but unfortunately I just couldnt get all the jokes. I would say more but I do feel its wrong to criticize on sketches where I dont understand all of the jokes going on.

Weekend Update

"Its in the hole!"

A very good WU this week. Nothing really stood out as hilarious but also none of the jokes came off as bad to me (except for one or two of my own) so a very solid WU. Not much else to say.

Just Like Home

"Today on Martha Stewart..."

I really liked the concept of this sketch. Its a simple premise that can be taken into many different directions. I liked a lot of the jokes but did get kind of lost after "I have gotta feed my whore" line. While I am the kind of person who can laugh at the idea of a terminally ill child being tackled by the defense of a football team something about feeding my whore didnt connect with me. You gotta love that double standard, you can offend only certain people to make me laugh. On the plus side I could see this becoming a recurring sketch with some work.

Weather Channel Ladies

"Tonights forecast calls for hot temparatures down south with a 100 percent chance of climate movement"

This sketch was original but I just didnt get the jokes in it myself. And if I remember right I was in the chatrooms when this idea came alive. thats all I have to say about that.

A presidential address

Some of the jokes here made me giggle a bit but the sketch seemed a bit silly to me, although then again President Bush is pretty damn silly, Weapons of Mass Destruction, stop it Bush your killing me. But overall not too bad of a sketch

Well folks thats it for this week on the Jack Farrell's Super Awesome SNY review. Stay tuned the next couple of weeks though as I have gotten some exclusive info and interviews from some of the current and past writers of SNY. Find out about the many lows and many highs of the Completely true unauthorized stories of SNY. Live from snlyou.jt.org its Saturday Night You.

Thats it for now

Jack Farrell
