Saturday Night Live: Special Edition DVDs

...Lorne Michaels

[Scene: Lorne Michaels standing at homebase]

Lorne Michaels: Hello, I'm Lorne Michaels, creator and executive producer of "Saturday Night Live." [the audience begins to applaud] Please, hold your applause. [the audience stops applauding] Since we're entering the 30th season of the show, we spent the summer working out some legal problems that had been plaguing us and I'm proud to announce that we are ready to properly release the show on DVD. However, as some of you know, George Lucas recently released his "Star Wars" movies on DVD with even more digital changes, including replacing the original Darth Vader actor with that new kid who's playing him in the prequels. When I heard about this, I realized that I didn't want to miss my chance to make some changes and corrections that have been bothering me for years. So, I present to you...the "Saturday Night Live: Special Edition" DVDs.

[Cut to a graphic of the DVDs, then cut back to Lorne standing at homebase holding one]

Lorne Michaels: Now, I'll be the first one to admit that we've made some host mistakes over the years, most recently Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for our finale. Let me tell you, that's the last time I ever let Horatio book guests. I actually had to talk him down from Jamie Kennedy. But anyway, all of the hosts that we've deemed unacceptable, ranging from such luminaries as Milton Berle to Steven Segal, have been digitally replaced by Tony Danza. As a result, this gives Mr. Danza the record of hosting the show the most times, with a record 107 appearances. Sorry, Steve, John, Alec, and Buck.

Lorne Michaels: It looks amazing, huh? Oh yes, for those years when I was off the show, I've changed the sketches to feature a wide variety of my cast members, leaving only Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo. Mike Myers and Dan Aykroyd in a Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood sketch with Eddie Murphy didn't happen you say? It did now. Take a look.

Lorne Michaels: Everybody seems to enjoy celebrities making cameos when cast members are impersonating them, so we've made many more a reality, particularly with those celebrities that are no longer with us. Watch Dana Carvey as Jimmy Stewart on Weekend Update with the real Jimmy Stewart sitting right next to him. Laugh as you see Will Ferrell as Saddam Hussein with the real Saddam standing in the background shaking his head. There's no limit to what we can do!

Lorne Michaels: Well, I'll just touch on one more important aspect of these new DVDs. From now on, whenever Jimmy Fallon starts to laugh uncontrollably for no reason, we've added a clown making faces into the background to serve as an excuse.

[VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon laughing during the "Gary's Fish Tanks" sketch, with a digitally-added clown making faces at him]

Lorne Michaels: It was a little costly to add in those 327 clowns, but we think it was worth it. Now it'll make sense to future generations why Jimmy was laughing all those times. (pause) Oh wait, I almost forgot. Let's not forget who benefits the most from these innovations. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Mr. Bill...in 3-D!

Lorne Michaels: So, there you have it. Digitally remastered "Saturday Night Live" episodes with newly altered footage. There are many more alterations I could tell you about, like adding our own Tina Fey to the classic Weekend Update with Chevy Chase, but I'll let you find them for yourself. It's a snap! (Lorne snaps his fingers and long, flowing hair instantly morphs onto his head) See?

[Lorne laughs as we fade out]
