In reply to: Patrick Lonergan 's message, "REVIEWS: Kate Winslet 10/30/04" on 17:26:32 10/30/04 Sat

Greetings once again everyone, Jack here with another fandiddlyastic show review. Before we get to the review let me take care of a few things...

News Update: Here at Jack's world things have been extremely busy. So busy in fact that the next chapter of Live from snlyou.jt.org its Saturday Night You will not be coming out Tuesday night due to school crap. My hopeful goal is to have the next chapter up by this upcoming weekend before I begin writing next weeks material. I do promise all of you writers that your ugly lives will soon be online.

Tv Pick of the week: Election coverage- What's funnier than that.

Movie Pick of the Week-The Incredibles (This film is from the gods at Pixar animation so you are guaranteed to have at the very least a very good time.)

Book of the Week: George Carlin's "When will Jesus bring the Pork Chops"

Now onto the review

Debate sketch "It was my understanding that their would be no math"

Ah another debate sketch, I gotta tell you the honest truth I am kind of sick of these sketches, even the good ones. As for this sketch this one wasnt half bad. My favorite bit of this was Jim Lehrer telling people's good or bad points when introducing them. Nice way to end the debate anthology Pat.

Monologue "Okay and lose the top"

Ah, the old question the audience bit, not too bad of a monologue here. I did like the fact that we goofed on Kate Winslet takes her top off in almost every movie that she does, I have yet to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but considering Kaufman's odd writing style it wouldnt surprise me. Overall a nice sketch here, good work.

12.87 kilometers "Dont tread on me bitch"

I liked the general idea of this sketch but I bet almost anything M & M would have done this sketch he has no sense of humor. Overall good idea for a sketch and this one gave me a nice feeling, not as good as the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's 8 Nipples parody but still funny good work.

Speeding Ticket "Did you find a road sign that doesnt end in 5 or O?"

This sketch got a little bit too weird for me. I liked a few of the jokes but overall just couldnt get into it. I dont think this sketch was bad I just dont think it was really me so I wont say too much more.

Andy Griffith as President "Now back to Andy Griffith starring Charles Bronson" "I'm off to Emmet's fix it shop to fix Emmet"

Funny idea here although I'll have to be honest that I probably didnt get all the jokes because I am not really a huge AG fan, all I really know is the tune, still clever sketch good work.

Weekend Update- "We are armed and pumping"

Good week for the WU crew and myself, a few nice commentaries and a lot of good jokes here, if more WU's were like this I could never give a bad review on this sketch, great work team

Demented Mind "What does vote or die mean anyway?" "What do you think it means BITCH!"

Ah my piece de resistance for the week. This sketch started out as a one note joke of how the old lady had hidden the blue diamond from Titanic but it then involved to the wackiness that it is. In retrospect I wish I had thought of something more clever than Italian gold but I have done worse, anyone remember Trump condoms. Overall I liked this sketch and its always a treat to write for Rachel Dratch.

Anti Kerry and Bush Ads- "Vote for Quimby, if you were running for mayor he would vote for you"

Very funny ads here, short yet hysterical, I personally voted for Kerry just because he can speak coherent sentences unlike Bush who is ALWAYS struggling to find out what to say. As for this sketch very funny and this is the exact way to include Superman into a joke. Dont offend Superman but offend someone else using a Superman reference. Good stuff Mr.Stockton

MTV- "I no longer want my MTV"

This is the only sketch I really didnt like this week and I think its strictly because I am just not a big fan of MTV. I hate almost everything that network stands for. Thats it

Bambino's Revenge- "I thought you were talking about the great Bambi "What that wussy dear?"

Nice sketch for new writer (I think he's new) Will Ditzen. Good work

Well thats all for this week folks, enjoy the week off and remember "Some days you eat the bear, somedays the bear eats you, but always dress for the hunt"

Jack
