Subject: Bobby Fischer Joke

First off, before you ask, a full review of the past episode is forthcoming. I hope to have it up tomorrow, but who knows.

Anyway, that's a great find on the Bobby Fischer story, but I think you overshot your punchline. What I mean by this is you delivered where a strong punchline could have gone, and then instead rounded off with the weak ending about dulling his skills. I think a better use of chess terminology in the avoided capture bit would lead to a funnier joke. It's tough to find the right balance, however. Those familiar with chess will want a more obscure reference than the clear, yet simple, citing of castling. The "instead of" prompts two chess references, instead of just one, and its removal could make for a more campact, tighter punchline. Here's my take:

Former world chess champion Bobby Fischer, who has spent more than a decade as a fugitive for tax evasion, was recently arrested in Japan. Authorities say that Fischer could have still avoided capture had he established a presence on the f-file.

Ending with simply "..avoided capture had he castled." would probably be good enough though.
