It makes me glad that I am older rather than younger but I don't envy my children as they get older. I've not seen any of it but there was a picture in the paper of him throwing a shoe, which is supposed to be a really dire insult in some quarters. The whole religious thing worries me, life would be so much simpler if the world agreed to worship the same God in their own different ways without trying to impose their beliefs on others. Maybe my son is right when the Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses arrive on his doorstep and he just tells them that he is Pagan. He was actually christened in the Methodist church and baptised in the Anglian. Rachel was baptised Methodist and christened Baptist, but stopped going to that church when she realised that I was right about the older members and that they were enormously hypocritical and exceedingly un-christian. They found out the hard way when one of the younger members had a bad accident and not one of the older members moved a finger to help, not even the minister. He ended up living with us for a while until his sister was able to take a holiday and go up to Wakefield to look after him. The minister did visit the lad at my house but I think he realised from my attitude that he wasn't really welcome.
