That was a nice wee side trip Gilly, but in a medical emergency, you would want to get to a specific place by the quickest route, and if it was piddling down with rain, or snow you would want to get from point A to point B by the shortest route especially if not in an area that is familiar to you....
Betty was going to a specialist yesterday for an Echo Cardiograph, I just put in the address and it took us to the front door.. I did hear of one old couple who had a GPS and was at a place called Bright up in the high Country and put in their home address for the shortest route and it took them over the mountain and onto a dirt track where they got bogged, but they used their mobile phone and called for help and they got them out... So you must make sure you select sealed roads, I had mine on coming back from Queensland towing the caravan and I dropped off the main route the GPS had given me and wentin to a wee town, I then decided to follow the GPS instructions shortest route back to the highway and I came to a low bridge that the van would not go under, not the Sat Nav's fault, it didn't know I had a height and clearance problem with the Van..
