Subject: Inspirational stories of dancing advancement

Just curious if anyone has any inspirational real life stories of dancers who did mini feis at oriechtas (we are in middle America but can be from anywhere) and didn't recall but then vastly vastly improved and naidc qualified the following year. My dancer started at 8 and compared to her peers she started way late! But she has gotten stronger and better every year. She has put in the work and goes to tons of extra dance classes, etc since last years and want to give her stories of other girls who worked hard and showed vast improvement in places from one year to the next, and what they did to get there!

My dancer had her first O at U8 (trad set) and solos thereafter. Took her 4 O's to recall. There's no magic bullet -she's always worked hard and has always done it for the love of dancing. If your kid is having fun and improving, her time will come. (NT) -- rrt, 08:13:35 08/26/25 Tue

- Well done to your daughter! It is indeed possible but is not even close to the norm. You’d be very hard pressed to find many stories of a dancer not making top half in a grades competition recalling and placing in a national qualifying position in solos just a year later. -- More inside, 11:29:21 08/26/25 Tue

My daughter had her first O in u8 and didn't recall..was last. She worked her butt off and next O she placed 7th, the following O was 3rd! She's been top 10 ever since and is now u14. It's definitely possible! (NT) -- Anon, 09:26:05 08/27/25 Wed
Daughter danced first solo oireachtas at 11 did not recall. Went on to be a world qualifier, podium placements and eventually won the oireachtas. She worked hard because she loved it and something clicked for her in her teens (NT) -- Dd, 19:03:14 08/27/25 Wed
Help your dancer be patient and not compare to others, only to themselves. Set her own goals - both reasonable and outlandish - and keep going. (Your dancer didn't start late.
