  • She grinned at her friends antics- far from mature but she didn't care in the least- though when one of the guys pulled one of her shoes from her feet she yelped out and dropped form the bonnet, being the victim of a game of piggy in the middle with it before it was thrown away from the group. She had a good sence of humour, but those were her breand new birthday shoes that had cost her more than she cared to remember, so pulling the other one off she went out looking for it, walking bare foot in the snow as she headed in the direction of the campfire, bottle in one hand, her shoe in the other. • "I charge a hefty finder's fee." He announced almost obnoxiously - not rudely, just cockily - from where he was watching her approach, standing just a little bit away from her friends. He'd caught the tail end of the teasing game her friends had been playing with her, and then had recovered her shoe easily - already out stumbling around in the dark anyway trying to find firewood. He had just been debating what he wanted to do with the shoe - trying it in the fire didn't seem like the best idea, but neither did marching over to her large group and offering it back. He wasn't much of the knight-in-shining-armor type... But then she had started to make her way towards him, so he just lingered where he was and waited for her to come to him. • "Damn straight I'm going to charge you for your shoe." He laughed loudly at her offer and shook his head firmly, backing away a little bit from her offered beer. "I've got beer, sweetheart. I don't need your leftovers. You gotta do better than that - or you're going home with only one shoe." He squinted out at her in the dim light from beneath his hood, looking carefully at her for a moment. He'd never seen her around before, and he got out a lot, so either she was quite a bit younger, or she was new around here... She didn't look that young though - but kids these days... He shook his head a touch before standing up straighter, taking a long pull from his own Heine - though his dark gaze never left her, and her shoe dangled from his free hand at his side. • "I am most definitely holding your birthday shoe hostage. I'm not a nice guy." He wasn't totally kidding either - sometimes he enjoyed just watching people squirm. He could be a bit of a bully... But she was a pretty little thing and he likely wouldn't be too ruthless with her. "Birthday shoe, you say? Does that mean it's your birthday?" He'd only been talking to her for a minute or two, yet already he could figure that she was quite a princess. However, he himself was a bit self-absorbed as well - grown up priveleged and quite proud. He liked to be the center of attention and had always been the ringleader. "What have you got to give me?" • He broke a grin and his jaw dropped a little as he held the shoe back and above his head, well out of her reach. "Now now. Let's use our words. Don't be grabby. I found it - finder's keepers, you know. But I'm being generous enough to give you the opportunity to buy it back. You don't seem like you want it that badly though." He raised his beer to his lips to finish it off, and then tossed the bottle off into the dark. He felt a little bad about littering, but knew for a fact that sweepers got paid to run the beach every morning and pick up the trash - he was just contributing to their jobs, he figured. • He glanced over his shoulder at a wave of noise that came from his little camp, but no one was paying him any attention - they were used to him disappearing into the darkness to chat up some random girl - and so he looked back to her with a bit of a smirk, pushing back his hood in the same motion. The breeze out there was cool, and he felt it now that he head was bare but he didn't mind too much. "I'm Cassius. Cash. Who're you?" He figured she wouldn't take off because she did seem to want her shoe back, so he ducked away from her quickly to grab another couple bottles from a cooler by their fire - ignoring the jeers from his friends - and then returned back to where she was standing. "Here - you look like you need another." He cracked the bottle open and shoved it into her hand, taking her almost finished drink from her - finishing it off for her and then tossing it in the direction he had sent his last bottle. He watched her closely as she drank, a slow impish grin playing over his features - she was cute enough he didn't mind bugging her for a while to get her to hang around there. Not that he doubted his ability to appeal to her attention more than the rest of her party, but it helped that he was holding on to her shoe. "So birthday girl, what birthday year is it for you?" He figured she was a little younger than he was - she didn't look like a total baby, but there was a bit of a sweet innocence to her that suggested she was still pretty young. She had considered telling him she was eighteen- but then had the suspicion that he wouldnt really care either way. • "Seventeen..." He repeated with a slow nod - if he had had to guess, he probably would have guessed seventeen. She looked too old for sixteen and too young for eighteen. "I'm nineteen." Couple years was no big deal really. He glanced over his shoulder at his small gathered group who had all but forgotten about him for the time being - content with their drinks and their company amongst themselves, more than used to his distractible ways. • "That's alright.. Getting close to being done." He pointed out - his last year had been the longest because he had just been so anxious to be out and finished with all of it. At her prompting, he cocked a brow but heeded without protest - though he only gave her one because his other was holding her shoe still and he definitely wasn't quite ready to give that back to her. He shook his head a little, a small smirk touching his lips momentarily. "Not till the fall. I'm being lazy for a year - working a bit, but mostly just hanging around like a bum." Her own parents had never been pushy about her going to college or anything- they;d like her to go- and she probably would- but she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life yet. • "My turn." His brows furrowed gently as he thought on any questions that he might have for her - intrigued to some level by the girl, as he usually was when he met someone knew. The difficulty came when he had known them for a while - he needed to be continually entertained or he easily lost interest in people and conversations. "Are you at all concerned about not hanging out with your friends?" It was her birthday after all and theoretically they were out there for her - and she had just disappeared off into the dark with some random guy. They would no doubt figure she was missing soon and then she;d have all kinds of questions to answer to Emily and the rest of them- but right now she was content to enjoy this strangers company.
