It is likely true that the media gives Bush a bad time, though it really has given all Presidents a hard time. It is my understanding that, historically speaking, the media has served, and was meant to serve, not only as a way to inform the public, but as a balance to the power of government. After all, an informed populous is one that the government cannot totally snow and thus control. I am no advocate of the way media in this modern age behaves, yet it is certainly preferable to having none or one associated more closely with the State.
