Sam allowed her eyes a second to adjust to the room’s lighting, cat like instincts causing her to hone in on each and every exit. There was the one to her back and another seemed to be ahead, behind the bar. Her best luck was out the way she’d come, she’d never get past the bouncer or bartender without hurting someone and that wasn’t her idea of making friends and she didn’t need any more enemies.
There was a decent looking male playing guitar on stage, she gave him a once over and was ready to move her attention on till the cords played feel into line and she realized what he was playing. ”Bullets in the Gun.” Good song, not much of an acoustic song, but it sounded good from her end, took a decent man to make something like that sound so good. She was impressed.
He finished the song as she reached the bar. Hand lifted waving at the ‘keep hoping for someone to tell her where the phone was; surely they had a pay phone around here? Or was this place too big for such an old hometown feature? Not likely, the guitarist had a dog with him and he didn’t look blind to have an assistant canine. ”Excuse me? Would ya’ll happen to have a phone I could use?” Voice holding a thick twang as she leaned over the bar, hoping to catch someone’s attention, which she did, but it wasn’t the one she’d wanted.
Coffee colored orbs moved towards the man who was propped up at the nearby table. He was smirking at her, his gaze lingering on her form before sliding around the rest of the bar, the pup slumbering at his feet. Maybe he could help her? Stetson was pushed up so she could better see him as with a slow sway she made her way over to him, all the time aware that she was making in the opposite direction she’d originally entered for. What was it about this man that made others stay away from him? She was intrigued and there was the old saying, curiosity killed the cat.
”Howdy. Nice song, don’t think I’ve ever heard one of Toby’s like that before.” Leather creaked as with a fluid grace she plopped down into the chair across from him, front legs kicked up as she eyed him with amusement. ”Wouldn’t happen to know where a gal can find a phone would ya?” At least her distraction could double as looking for help. Killing two birds with one stone and all that jazz.
