Subject: Yo quiero Taco Bell
In reply to: Stardoe 's message, "Americanisms leave me in the dark." on 15:50:40 01/20/03 Mon

I didn't realize that the Fox Mantle thing hadn't been explained to you yet Stardoe! I would have cleared it up for you. Mantle played for the New York Yankees btw which is DD's favorite team.

You have Taco Bell is Australia now?!! I believe the reference on the show was in Alpha when Mulder said "Yo Quiero (I want) Taco Bell" He was imitating a popular TV ad campaign with a talking Chiuaua (Sp?) dog who would say that.

How did you like the Oreos?!!

Jiffy Pop was a product devised to make popcorn back when I was a kid. The unpoppep kernels came in this aluminum tin round container with foil over it with a handle and when you passed it over the stove burner it would heat up and the kernels would pop making the foil expand into this big mountainous shape. Mulder thought those things in FTF looked like that. The gimmick was that it was a fun way for kids to make their own popcorn. "As much fun to make as it is to eat" was their slogan. I don't think they have it anymore but I'm not sure. Nowadays they have paper bags that you heat in the microwave. I usually only eat popcorn when I go to the movies.

If you run across any other strange American things on our tv let me know!
