Well, well...uhm......well! I suppose I will give this episode to my buddy to watch. Episode wise it may have been somewhat lacking at some points but it was still a better statement for the condition of the X-Files than the last two were. I felt for the writers in this one...it felt like they were saying goodbye to something they passionately cared about...and I thought even that they were right...I mean, so WHAT if the show has slipped...they were still trying to do a good job. What had ALWAYS paid off for them suddenly stopped paying off but they didn't stop trying.

I can see CC and Co. in the Lonegunmen...standing up for what they believe in until the bitter end...even when they are mocked for it. Even when they are left alone in the end with the mess of the conspiracy and have lost everything they worked for the last 9 years. I reminded of the Nora Roberts' quote about writers that asserts that writing is an act of courage...even if it's very bad, even if it's laughable...it still takes courage to try to reach out to your fellow man and say something about yourself and your personal views on the world.

So...I suppose I should bury the hatchet with CC and Co...as we bury Frohike, Langley and Byers. I suppose I am only disappointed in the loss of something that passed within inches of greatness. But that is closer than most TV shows or other forms of entertainment ever get. After all the XF writers entertained me for a long time, and if CC has the fault of clinging too long to the thing that brought him success...well...at least he WAS the producer of a really fine show which is more than most people, including myself can say...and he never gave up...and maybe in the end...that'll do!

feeling all maudlin...now......also hoping that Mulder was there for the service...in disguise of course, back in the trees...but THERE...like me and my Buddy!
