Subject: Saying that the US Embassy will help out Canadians where there are no Canadian embassies/consulates is INCORRECT. If you are a Canadian abroad and have no Canadian embassies/consulates available to you, your next choice is the BRITISH. A direct quote from the back cover of my own passport: "In countries where there is no Canadian office, application may be made in an emergency to the nearest BRITISH diplomatic or consular office." Subject Author Date That is correct - the US embassy will NOT help however, since we fall under the British Monarchy, the British Embassy/Consulate is where Canadians need to go, if there is nowhere else... I was in a country with only a US embassy, was told to go there if we had any issues, which we didnt, but it was good information to have. They may not help in ways that your own embassy would but they wont abandon you either and will put you in touch with the people you need to be in touch with.
