Well what can I say, WOW what a pageant prelim show tonight! If I sound like I am gushing too much or use to many superlatives, I apologize in advance.
Alice and Dominique hosted the pageant and were superb, and Dominique still looks fabulous. As well, Riyo and Natalie were judges. You got to love pageant royalty, and it was nice to have them all at the event, it made it a special night for the audience and for the delegates. And Natalie looks even more magnificent today, we should all move to Thailand.
So sitting beside Jimmy in our very special seating section (front row beside the judges - thank you Denis and Isabelle), I was able to have a close-up look at the young woman. And all of the delegates were fantastic. The choreography was incredible and it looked like all of the delegates were having fun.
And now to the pageant prelim, and who left an impression. There is a very strong field of delegates, very strong and very prepared. And I am already thrilled to say that 2 of my favourites Aleksandra Malkin and Dayna Hajaly have already made it into the semi-finals as fast track winners. Yeah! The 3 other delegates joining Aleksandra and Dayna as fast track winners are Lina Lombana, Sahar Biniaz and Stephanie Koo. That there makes a great top 5.
So now the rest of the delegates that impressed me.
Adwoa Yamoah - great gown
Anastasia Marinina - great in swim and gown
Elena Semikina
Elena Tchemissova
Genida Prifti - great gown
Klaudia Olejnik
Lateesha Ector - great in swim and gown
Pauline Ranjbar - great in swim and gown
Ronjiny Basu
Samantha Tajik - incredible
Sonja McCree - great in swim and gown
Vanessa Drautz
There is a top 20 this year as a first round of semi-finalists. So there are 15 additional delegates along with the fast track winners that make up the top 20. Who will win??, well that is a mighty tough decision. But if I were to put money down on a final 2 - I would say Aleksandra Malkin and Sahar Biniaz as the last 2 standing.
But I do wish all of the young woman good luck on Monday night. As I said, it is a very deep contingent of pageant beauties this year. You never know who might surprise us all and shine so bright that she wins the crown, sash and title of Miss Universe Canada 2008.

Mitch, I remember you from last year at the pageant! Thanks for the update, I hope you are going to the finals and you will keep us all updated. Keep in touch (NT)Lisa Harrigan18:13:22 04/27/08 Sun
I will be at the pageant tonight. It is just a short time from now. Again I will be there with Jimmy in the front row, sort of the Canadian version of Julie Moran and Ally Landry. I'll be Julie, since I am older. Anyways, we will report back to yoy all later with the results of course and our take of the evening's events. Hopefully it will be an outstanding show with a wonderful young woman taking home the title. (NT)mitch15:34:02 04/28/08 Mon
