Subject: I think it’s laughable that you believe having your teacher play the music at a Feis will somehow make it easier for their pupil to win. What exactly can a musician do that wouldn’t be obvious to the audience/other Teachers? If there is an error with the music being played (apart from speed in a set dance, which must be picked up by the dancer prior to beginning their dancing) then those affected would be permitted to redance.

It’s comments like this that ruin competitions and the opportunity for dancers to perform with a live musician. We are so lucky to have local musicians. The alternative? OS musicians, so entry fees will go up as the organisers pay for international fares and accommodation. If anything, a TC playing music all day at a competition negatively impacts their own dancers as they are unable to support/watch their pupils. Australian teachers have far more integrity than you give them credit for.
