i would like to say that the allegations put towards wollongong are hurtful and uneducated. the idea that wollongong is a place full of robbery, murder and corruption is completely wrong. the idea that there are barely any dancers to represent wollongong is contradictory as geelong hasn't any dancing schools.

also, if wollongong is so dangerous, then why are so many competitions held in bankstown and blacktown?

Hi Everyone,

This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, an event that raises money to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

I dont have diabetes, nor does any members of my family, but 2 of my dance students & a close friends Son have all been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes within the past 2 years. I am truly inspired by the courage they show daily to physically & mentally cope with their disease.

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic, life-threatening illness that affects over 140,000 Australians and millions of people world-wide. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that is not caused by diet or lifestyle and often occurs in children. An individual with type 1 diabetes may need up to six insulin injections every day, just to stay alive, as well as multiple finger prick blood sugar tests. People don�t grow out of type 1 diabetes and they are at risk of developing long-term life threatening complications.

JDRF is the world's leading non-profit contributor to type 1 diabetes research and the only charity dedicated solely to finding a cure through the support of medical research.

The Parkwood Motel accommodation is still available. Our booking is from 27th Sept - 4th October at Parkwood Motel and I would need - 7 or 8 of the days taken. It is an APARTMENT that can sleep up to 5 and is within walking distance of the Arena(you can check it on Google) so you wouldn't have to hire a car/take the train in everyday.         It's like that all over the world. At our states there is a section with only 2 dancers, and although they are lovely kids they are only prim/inter dancers. One is now state champion and the other came second, both qualified for Worlds from these placings. Other kids in Ireland and America and even Australia are obviously better than a primary dancer but they did not qualify in larger sections. It's just the luck of the draw with where you live unfortunately. there are many kids OS who never get to dance at worlds who are better dancers than some of ours who go over to compete. My daughter injured herself in the States so sadly, we won't be going to Nationals. Even Sadder, we had to pay for our accommodation in full beforehand. In order to get our payment refunded we need someone else to take the accommodation. Our booking is from 27th Sept - 4th October at Parkwood Motel. It is an APARTMENT that can sleep up to 5 and is within walking distance of the Arena(you can check it on Google) so you wouldn't have to hire a car/take the train in everyday. It is also close to shops/restaurants etc. If you are interested you can give them a call on 03 5278 5477. Their website is www.parkwoodmotel.com.au. IF you do take the accommodation could you please post the information so Parkwood don't get continuing enquiries about it.

- Aida is appreciated for the hard work they do. Bankstown town hall is NOT family friendly. The canteen was running out of food. The stage is great, the practice floor is not. Ask any pysio and they will tell you dancing on carpet with concrete underneath is a big no no even if it is covered in tarquet. The dressing room/warmup room was for both females and males. Child protection laws prohibit this. It's a hard job finding a suitable venue, but perhaps AIDA should look at these messages as suggestions not criticisms. (NT) -- :-), Mon, Aug 31 2009, 4:47:21"
