Can someone please advise, if you book the host hotel for Nans and DD doesn't end up dancing, do you still get to stay there for the dancing rate? Do they ask for proof child is actually a dancer? Worried about booking then injury prevents dancing but still keep the holiday only to arrive and be told its $500 night and not $150. Any advice appreciated

- I think they are referring to the rule change after 2018 where if you want to be a TC you have to have sat the grade exams which I think involve doing the beginner dances up to harder ones infront of an 'examiner' (NT) -- apparently, Mon, Feb 11 2013, 19:10:57"
  - It would be nice if completing these exams took place of the 'solo dancing' section of the TCRG exam - still need to demonstrate teaching skills and theory, but to give credit to these sections. (NT) -- thought., Mon, Feb 11 2013, 19:39:55"

- I think it's a good idea for those countries who do regular exams like in the USA, but for Australia, I'm not so sure, we have been in dancing for almost 10 years and have never been offered the chance to do the exams.         Particularly now the exemption has been removed. I think the difficulty also lies in sourcing different examiners from our pool.         Our school has been doing them for years. At our school we have dancers who have completed grades 9 and 10. Just ask around at the next competition as to who does exams. I noticed a complaint on one of the Overseas boards about teachers not responding to emails from parents currently attending schools and prospective new students.

Is that an issue over here? I know it was with my old TCRG. Never returned phone calls...can't comment on email because it was back in the day before emails!

- You will get lots of opinions but in my experience, I have listed dresses over the years on all of the resale sites, but have only even sold from dance again. Don't overprice your dress and it will sell. Too many put too high a price and then the dress is under their bed for years rather than starting a little lower and selling quickly. When the dress arrives in Australia, the customs people will contact you and let you know how much duty is due. Once you pay the duty, they will release the dress to you. - You could be sore if you are stretching cold muscles before you dance. You shouldn't really stretch before dancing unless you have done a good warm up first. Hi, we are thinking of going to the NAN's but have not yet made up our minds (dates and finances being the reason). What happens if the two preferred hotels are booked out? - Tasmanian Festival is (or at least always has been) not a championship, there are individual prized solos and teams and then premierships, with a choice haard soft and set but no recall, normal between 4 and 10 in a section which is mixed age groups - dont see this as a negative though it is a very good feis. McAleer is usually 60% recall if more than 12(?) in the section. (NT) -- senior dancer, Sun, Jan 13 2013, 9:52:55"
- If you're talking about the Christchurch Competitions Feis in NZ there isn't a recall. Dancers compete in all rounds then places are given for each with an overall across all rounds. - It's the same tune as Celtic Dream from Lord of the Dance. I'm not sure if it is a traditional tune arr. by Ronan Hardiman or whether he composed it himself. The version in the YouTube clip seems to be slightly different in the musical arrangement to the original show version. After a successful and positive event in 2012 - The O'Brien Academy is happy and excited to announce we are holding the 2013 O'Brien Feis on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May 2013!

The venue will be Prendiville College Performing Arts Centre in Ocean Reef, Perth.

Our fantastic adjudicators are Carmel Doyle (ADCRG, South Australia), Eileen Mulcahy (ADCRG, Victoria) and Mary Grantham (ADCRG, Victoria).

The Feis will run over the two days commencing with Premierships and Championships on Saturday and the Grade Feis on Sunday.
