  Guys don’t forget to make your way down to the Barwon Club Hotel on Monday night (see flyer at http://www.simpsonacademy.com/files/Geelong2009DadsNight.doc ) for a fun filled evening of secret men’s business. Great chances to make new acquaintances and unwind before your daily duties are focused on other things. No time to socialise when you are being used as a packhorse, keeping your dancer and partner calm, stocking them up with caffeine, energy drinks, food, taking photos or going back to the hotel because it was your fault that something was left behind.   Many years ago the Southern Cross Feis was very prestigious and to win a perpetual trophy was a great honour. It is sad to see this feis is now held in one day, obviously due to low entry numbers. Being the last competition before Nationals and only weeks away from Nationals why do more people not support this Feis?

These days dancers travel to so many interstate feis throughout the year that interstate competition is no longer a drawcard, plus one teacher has been charged with the responsibilty rather than it being shared so it is kind of a neglected feis with bad venues and poor numbers.   We are thinking of driving the Great Ocean Road whilst in Geelong. Would any locals know if this would be too far for a day trip? Can you drive the GOR one way and then take a freeway/main hwy back to Geelong to cut down on driving time? or do you need to go both ways the long way? Google maps says the round trip is 5.5 hours drive so with stops it could work as a day trip. • Hi everyone. i just want to get it out there that im hosing a girls night in got breast cancer..i cant invite everyone but i know how generous the irish dancing community can be.I know most people are affected by breast cancer someway. whether it be a friend or family member it is a devestating thing for anyone to deal with.   Congratulations to all Victorian Dancers this weekend Plenty of Teams, (from age 5 years to ? ) beautiful new costumes, great success all round for a wide range of schools. The important thing is we here in Australia are all keeping up our very important Ceili Dancing and creative Own Choreography events - unrivalled I would say in the rest of the dancing world. 900 sashes ordered and gone home now to many different teams. For those who didn't win a prize you still put in the hard work, so well done ! All praise to the three Adjudicators, Carmel Doyle, Maureen Whelan and Donna Cannon. Big personal thankyou to the AIDA Victorian Branch Executive and all members for making sure it was a great weekend all round!
