Interesting post on the UK board from a TC saying her parents are complaining that she has raised her class fees to £5 for a 2-3 hour class. This is about $7.60 which got me wondering, we pay double this for an hour! What does everyone else pay per class? No wonder their dancers are good, they can afford to go to twice as many classes as we can!

- Another difference is that a lot of the Irish and English schools dance in old church halls or community halls that have very little rent. My school dances in a very large dance studio with sprung floors, tarket, mirrors and a sound system and the rent is very expensive. When you are paying out for an excellent venue, you have to cover the cost while also making money each class. I've been looking at the AIDA inc. website and noticed that the 2013 Feisenna have been posted... But none in the ACT?! Does anyone know if this is just a fault, or if there really is no Feisenna I'm Canberra this year?!

Just received our new dress and only ordered it with 'basic' crystals to save cost, plan to do the rest myself, but it is only crystal-ed on the front and the cape, none on the back of the skirt? Would it be a waste of time/money to crystal the back of the skirt the same as the front?

- Personally, I always put crystals on the back of the dress. I think it looks weird to have a fully crystalised front and then the dancer turns around and there is nothing, it looks stange to me. - I always do the top and my dd wears a full wig, have never had a problem with them getting caught or falling off because of this. If there are any Aussies who booked a room at one of the Worlds hotels but now aren't going to go to Boston. Don't just cancel your room as the hotels do not put the rooms back in to the special block. There are people on the US and UK message boards ( http://www.voy.com/60473/ and http://www.voy.com/219460/ ) who are unable to find a room as the hotels are full. If you no longer need your booking, post a message on one of those boards and you can arrange with the hotel for someone to take over your booking.

Not that I wish to start off the whole Nationals being opened again but I’ve thought of a great idea … well I think it is! Not that I expect everyone to agree but perhaps it might start people thinking of some alternative ideas. -- Just an idea, Sun, Dec 30 2012, 16:13:15"
During the competition year Australian dancers would travel interstate (as many of us already do) to open competitions (although negotiable perhaps one Feis per state nominated by AIDA at the beginning of the year) and gain points for their placing culminating in those points being added up at the end of the year and an Australian Champion being announced based on the amount of points dancers have. So there was no disadvantage to west coast dancers, if most of the Feis were based on the east coast of Australia perhaps a west coast Feis could be given more status and more points awarded there to encourage east coast dancers to travel over and also to help west coast dancers to not be too disadvantaged if they are unable to attend all east coast Feis. I think it would be great for an Australian championship to be granted on a series of Feis rather than based on just the one. Perhaps it would also encourage more dancers to attend and support other Feis as we've all noticed numbers dropping? Food for thought? An overseas competitor couldn’t be announced as the Australian Champion because they wouldn’t be eligible to win any points during the year (but still most welcome to compete in any Feis just not win points), perhaps they could win a special title? And at the nationals presentation instead of our 50-1 places for the day the places could be called out based on the points accrued over the year and therefore a true Australian dancer announced as the Australian Champion.

Could something like this be possible? Would it keep everyone happy? And the board is so boring at the moment so why not stir it up! I do believe we need to keep debating this very important issue.

- We aren't well off. We live on the east coast and last year managed to feis in four states ie NSW, Vic, QLD and ACT. - There's not much that is light and sprung and at the same time sturdy enough to stand up to hardshoe. We did an area in a spare room with particle board flooring sheets and put those foam interlocking squares underneath for some shock absorbancy. It works great but is not moveable as we did a big area and joined the sheets together for stability. Has anyone looked at flights to LA for Nan's? The "cheap" fares end on 16th June at around $1200 return from Sydney. After the 16th the fare goes up to $2,200 ! I know it's seasonal but it's cheaper to fly to Boston, even though LA is so much closer :(

Just wondering on what the qualifying criteria USED to be for worlds circa 2002. When did it change to the current criteria (first 5 + 1 for every ten or part thereof)? Ta.
Would also be interested if it was different in the 70s, 80s or 90s.

- Depends where you are. If you are close to Sydney City there is Dwyer-Whelan, Southwest suburbs - Halloran, Southern and southwest suburbs - Walton, Western suburbs/Blue Mountains - Maher. All schools are competitive and successful at State and National Championships. Has anyone had experience with a Lisfranc Fracture Dislocation? We have been told it is a rare injury and are having a hard time finding information on the injury as it pertains to Irish Dancers. What is the prognosis for returning to competitive dancing?

Maybe book it and go through to the payment page, it will usually tell you there if you will be charged anything and how much.
