If your daughter is happy stay. Happiness is the path to success. I was talked into moving my daughter by other parents. Was told you need to go to a better school, more teachers, better steps etc. after a disappointment of not recalling we did just that. Then we moved to a new school that yes has national champions but also bullying, favourites and so much pressure to perform. This was the worst 5 years. Yes we got better results but at a cost. We have now gone back to the original school we started at thank goodness our previous teacher showed us grace and did not hold a grudge and my DD passion and joy in dance is back!!

- Dancers usually change schools for better results why else would you move unless you have changed your location, so of course a teacher will hold a grudge as you are leaving to find a more suitable teacher. Talk to parents from other schools before you move get to know what the expectations of the school are. We have big class numbers but unfortunately not much choice in the area we live in.   - We moved for our dancers happiness not results which now being at a more professional school has reignited their passion and subsequently their results. For the most part it’s just as difficult for the families moving mostly for the dancers themselves forging new friendships and learning new steps. For us the decision didn’t come lightly however totally worth it. By all means be upset but responding in a begrudging manner towards families, let alone children and young people in an official capacity representing a dance school is highly unprofessional. - It’s not like regular school where a teacher may have a student for a year. TCs are coaching these dancers for many years, sharing the ups and downs and supporting them through it all (even if you don’t feel this is the case) It’s not an emotionless process or business transaction as some seem to suggest. It is a breakdown of relationship and so there are repercussions from that. The way a family leaves can have an impact on how a teacher responds. Think about a breakup - things don’t automatically heal and go back to normal.
