And the world grinded to a halt. What should have been a sweet moment of pure euphoric bliss had been transformed into a broken mirror of conflicting emotions. Half of him wanted to let loose a cry of joy and cavort madly around the mare before smothering her with nuzzles and affection. The other half of him wanted to sink to the sands in misery. How could a heart be torn in this way? Why couldn't he just love one or the other? Lowering his head, he loosed a strangled sob, the heartache had gotten to be too much. The idea of hurting either of them caused him agony such as he had never known. The thought of living without both of them in his life was like an icicle stabbing into his heart, a frigid thrust that sent hot gushes of raw pain spiraling into his soul. -I love you too Echo- he managed to gasp as tears welled in his chocolate orbs. -And I love you Death. I love you both so much that I find it hard to bear. I feel like two souls sharing one body, each yearning to be melded with one of you. How am I supposed to decide?- At that, he turned from them both, lost in his own stricken mind. He couldn't move, or breathe, gravity seemed to have increased and was intent on pulling him beneath those pristine sands. His head sank to the warm grains as his eyelids clenched shut against the wealth of tears that threatened to spill. How was he ever going to choose?
