The reference to his family put the mahogany stud on high alert, his already overextended nerves taking another powerful jolt. All other points that had been made by Adrian were effectively flushed from his mind as the vision, clear as a photo, materialized within his mind's eye. Tori, golden and beautiful as always. Elven, so much like him with a core of steel that surpassed even his own. And Hex, his red baby, still so young and naive to the atrocities and horrors in the world. Unbidden, his gaze flew to the two females Adrian mentioned. His daughter's grulla hide, engaged in fierce battle, caught his eye first. Not far away, his mate's gilded frame came into view. The golden mare was herding one of the fillies back to the healing ward. Hex was the only one not within eyeshot. The thought calmed him marginally, knowing at least one of his family members was completely out of harm's way. Thus reassured, the black-pointed stallion tore his gaze away from his girls and refocused on Adrian.

"I see that you have taken the time to learn my family. To lie would accomplish nothing. Yes, I have both a daughter and a son, Elven and Hexed. As for Tori, she is a healer and is doing her part for the war. Incidentally, where's your mate? Navy, isn't it?"

An invisible brow arched upwards. If Adrian could drag family members into the brawl, so could Shaz.
