Hi Everyone
I'm finally back online and with a phone working, those xxxxx kids i'd kill them if i got my hands on the little xxxx.

Apartantly they cut all the lines on the estate where i live on Wednesday morning, and i've only just (6.15pm) got it back.

Congratulations to Leila and Sandra on your tickets to see Sheila next month, wish i could go with you, but sadly can't afford it and with my leg not behaving it's self at the momnet a trip this soon is out of the question.

But i hope you both have a great time, and as Theresa says a full report plus photos please to Joe when you get back, for all of us who can't make it.

I'm over the moon to hear that Killer Waiting is finally going to be released on dvd, i've waited long enough for it, and i will be one very happy bunny when it finally comes.

Also Theresa i'm so pleased that you are having 'our' episode of Lewis this Saturday, by the time you read this it will be over most likely, hope it lives up to your expectations, ha-ha!!

I thought the story was wonderful, and i'm sure you will to when you see it.

Yes, as you know i've got "Love Child", though because i've played it so many times the quality isn't that good now, and Sheila is wonderful in it, one of her best performances in my hubble opinion.

Think i've covered everything in one go, good to see in my absence you've all been keeping the JT Foundation stocked up with raising money on everyclick.com, we are on £129.62 as i write this, so well done everyone.

Theresa, just want to say many thanks for keeping my spirits up via text these past few days, you're ace!
Take care everyone
Janet

Folks…just letting you know that the Lewis episode (When the Moonbeams Kiss the Sea) with Janet, myself and Sandra in is to be shown in Australia this Saturday night (5th April).

With the latest Lewis viewing figures reaching 1 million here in Oz…our distant images will be seen by another million people in the world (or missed as they take their loo or kitchen break!).

Anyway a good hoot! I’ve mentioned it to a few people here and at least it’s got them more aware of Lewis now and I hear the name of the show bandied about quite a bit.

Series 2 of the series is not out here yet. But I’m sure it will be shortly as Series 1 has just arrived and I will be picking up my pre-ordered copy tonight!!

Also Janet...thanks so much for that great comprehensive LEWIS EPISODE GUIDE that Joe has now put on his Lewis page. I've read them from top to toe - only missing out those episodes that I haven't seen yet. But will read them progressively as I watch. Looks like a MOUNTAIN of research you've done..as usual! Thanks! A great resource! Well done mate!

PS..I've also left a message responding you Leila and Sandra re your Birthday Party thread.

Cheers all!

I just pre-ordered the "Killer Trilogy" from Amazon.com (United States) with a release date of April 22nd.) I checked Amazon UK and they are still showing no release date and a sign up for notification. Go figure.

So now just have to wait and see if seeing is believing.
I'm surprised that Amazom US lists the dvd as All Regions, I hope so. I've never seen one listed that way before where it turned out to be so.

Cheers, Karen

Hello all

This is not about John Thaw but….I thought some of you might be interested in a new (I think) movie featuring Kevin Whately. It is called ‘BELONGING’ and I have just seen it on TV here and really liked it! Or perhaps you have already seen it in UK etc?

It is available on DVD via Amazon – it appears to be available in both UK and US region formats. It is supposed to be going to be available in Australia soon too so I’ll probably get it here.

It is about a woman who looks after several elderly people and is also married to Kevin’s character – Jacob (a nod to you Sandra!).

Relationship difficulties occur between Jacob and wife…complicated and also complemented by the needs and personalities of the old folk. The result I think is a quietly powerful and moving story about empowerment, among other things.

And there is IS a John connection as there are 4 top actors in the movie who have also performed with John – i.e Kevin, Anna Massey (Morse and Lewis), Joanna David (Morse) and the guy who played Dysart in ‘Into the Blue’. That guy also played a distraught father in the Lewis episode ‘Born of Fire’.

If you do get it, let me know what you think. Kevin plays a great part, quite different to anything else I’ve seen him in..especially as he gets to play someone who becomes rather an inconsiderate person – but not a bad person.

Cheers

Subject: Sheila Hancock Will Star in Pinter's Birthday Party in London

Just in case anyone is intested, i thought i'd post this for you, as i got the news this morning.
Janet.

Veteran actress Sheila Hancock will star in a 50th anniversary production of Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party at the Lyric Hammersmith, where the play received its first London run in 1958.

The new production scheduled for May 8-24 will also renew a long-standing association for the actress and playwright with both each other and this theatre.

As Hancock notes in a press statement, "I first met Harold when we worked together in weekly repertory in 1956-57. I remember seeing The Birthday Party at the Lyric in 1958 — one of the few people who did — and being astounded that my fellow actor was a brilliant writer. In 1959 I appeared in a revue at the Lyric Hammersmith called One to Another in which my best role was that of a lady tramp in a sketch with Beryl Reid — by Harold Pinter. I did it at the Lyric again in 1997 this time with Dawn French. It is a great joy for me to be reunited with Harold and to be returning to The Lyric Hammersmith."

Hancock was most recently seen on the London stage when she won a Laurence Olivier Award for her role in the current revival of Cabaret at the Lyric Hammersmith, in which she played Fraulein Schneider. Other leading roles in musicals have included playing Miss Hannigan in Annie and Mrs. Lovett in the original 1980 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

For the Pinter, she will be joined by a cast that includes Nicholas Woodeson (currently starring in Legal Fictions at the Savoy, and who previously appeared in Sam Mendes' National Theatre revival of The Birthday Party and Pinter's The Homecoming, directed by Peter Hall at the West End's Comedy Theatre), Lloyd Hutchinson (who has appeared alongside Pinter in his play One for the Road in New York in 2001, and whose recent credits include Rhinoceros at the Royal Court), Justin Salinger and Alan Williams.

The Lyric's artistic director David Farr is working closely with Pinter on this production, and said in a press statement, "When I suggested to Harold Pinter the idea of celebrating the anniversary, I was struck by his enthusiasm for the idea, and by his vivid memories of the fate of the original production. The Lyric has a proud history of theatrical risk-taking and Pinter's The Birthday Party stands as a significant part of that tradition I am thrilled that Sheila Hancock is leading such a wonderful cast of actors to join Harold and me on this journey. Sheila is a Lyric legend and we are thrilled to have her back."
