Subject: QOTD for Wednesday June 1, 2022 about you and your love affair with Outlander

While looking for a quote I found out that tomorrow is very special to us.
Because it’s . . . . .

June 1 - WORLD OUTLANDER DAY!

On this day, in 1991, Diana Gabaldon’s first masterpiece, Outlander, was published.

Traditionally, on this day people tell how they found Outlander. So I thought I’d give everyone a chance to remember and share ahead of time. 🤔 ❤️

Can’t wait to hear the stories.

[> My Mom loaned me the first book. I'll admit that it sat on the shelf for quite some time as the cover just didn't intrigue me. (What's the old saying - Don't judge a book by its cover???) I finally started Outlander and devoured the rest through Drums. Then the waiting game started.... -- DianaH, Wed, June 01 2022, 7:39:51

[> I was on vacation looking for a beach read. Came across Outlander and noticed there were two other books in the series. Great! If I like the first one I'll have more to read! Quickly became obsessed! Found LOL after DOA was out in paperback. I've met the most lovely friends here. -- kgp, Wed, June 01 2022, 8:46:27

[> It was March 1997 and a friend loaned me a book saying "here's a light read". Hahaha! After ignoring for days that fat book on my nightstand, I started in, looked at my clock, it was now 1am !! OMG,I set the book face down to stop the conversation, all was quiet around me, and i thought - where have I been? Felt time-traveled and now I'm back, right in the same spot. Amazing realization. Amazing writing. Found LOL later in 1998 and still love this place, lurking, laughing, posting now and then. Happy Summer all. -- TeriB, Wed, June 01 2022, 9:17:11

[> I was in a chain bookstore, and had been browsing the romance novels for a new book. Saw Outlander, read the blurb, thought "time travel. nope". Went back several times, picked it up each time, finally bought it. Read it. Fell in love. Read it again. And Again. And again. Then Dragonfly in Amber came out....yup, I've been reading since very early and have endured 8 droughtlanders, though I have to say this last one seemed to be the longest! -- Janet D, Wed, June 01 2022, 11:43:44

[> Mine was seeing an AOL blurb about “books that changed your life” and there were so many “Outlander” answers I had to check it out. The librarian said, Oh you mean that time travel one? And I almost passed because I don’t read sci fi. But that old, original cover with the clock and the sword and paid, oh my!?! What the heck? And as you all know the rest is history. This happened right before the Firey Cross came out so I could binge the first five. That’s where I started my Amazon addiction - I NEEDED to own these books not just borrow from the library. -- Kathy in PA, Thu, June 02 2022, 3:34:05
