In reply to: Brian 's message, "Suzuki Outboard engines" on 13/02/04 16:02:51

I have a DT2 and it has a thermostat so water only comes out when the engine is warm.

The manual is misleading because there are lots of dire warning about stopping the engine immediately if there is no cooling water.

"As soon as the engine starts, water should spray out of the hole. if not, stop as soon as possible and take to dealer"

"CAUTION Never operate the motor when there is no water coming out"

"note: it may take several minutes for the engine to warm up enought for the water to start spraying".

I cant guarantee that the DT4 is the same, but seems likely, unless your manual states otherwise.

Ian
