Most Trapper owners seem to like the roller reefing system as installed, the perception being that it is easier to roll up a bit of sail than take in a slab & I have to admit that you do have more control over the amount of sail you reduce with roller reefing.

Having said that I am a great advocate of slab reefing because the sail sets better & I believe is easier to set up. I have 2 reef points with lines each side of the boom. The boom modifications are fairly easy to do but you need to have the sail modified by a sail maker.

If you are interested I can send you photos of my set up (but not till next week when my boat goes back in the water).
