Subject: The Gas Man

I recently had my gas instalation given Corgi certification. I got a guy local to the new boats home to fit a cooker (also Corgi certified) and he told me my gas installation is unsafe.

Essentially if your piping is 5/16's there will be a significant pressure drop at the cooker (in my case 5mb) which is outside the 2.5mb maximum limit.

I have spoken with Corgi and they confirm the new chaps findings as a problem, so the original guy is (hopefully) going to replace all the pipe with 3/8's for no extra charge. I say I hope, as I he has yet to get back to me about WHEN he'll do this, but I'm blowed if I'm forking out another 300 pounds...

Anybody else experienced similar?

BTW - The main concrn here is that with the wrong pressure being delivered to the cooker it will not burn the gas properly and cause carbon dioxide to be burnt, creating the silent & deadly Carbon Monoxide.

Tip from the Gas Man was always have some ventalation when making a cuppa - 1 washboard out type thing SOunds great in theory but on those cold anchorages I lock up before a brew -- why waste the heat!
