Early 2006, I removed the shaft and also replaced the stuffing box with a dripless system whilst doing the cutlass bearing job.
I did not find it very easy.

A removal tool can be found here: http://www.strutpro.com, I must say that I find it very, very expensive, whitch is why I did not buy it at that time.
