Re burying the rail could I suggest a case of being over canvassed! I have done well over 30,000 miles in Star Trapper & experienced just about every condition you could imagine. Basically reef early & particularly the main - this is essential. I have a third reef in my main & use it freely. With sails trimmed properly there should be virtually no weather helm and the lee rail only touching the water - & that includes beating into a F7. What's more, get the sails balanced & the boat goes faster. Certainly a different boat to the 500/501 but only tender if you over do it & ideal cruising for two. Star Trapper just about to depart for its' latest cross channel adventure!
