Hi Paul,

Ocean Air has a 1.75" diameter hole in the centre of the saloon floor for access to the bilge. There is less than 2" clearance under the floor at this point and at the rear of the keel case this diminishes to nothing! The floor is a balsa core section about 0.75 thick like the rest of the hull, so you will have to be really careful if you drill holes in it or you may damage the inner skin and create an entry point for water to get at the balsa core.

As Kim says, the total thickness at the rear of the keel case is about 3". but some of this thickness is end grain balsa, where it has bolts through it, it could be damp, hence the high moisture readings?

Cheers,

Alan.
