Hi guys and galls. hope the kerel box is going well. I am somewhat concerned over the bolt discription as when I did mine 1 1/2 years ago I found that a standard 1/2 inch whitworth thread worked nicely, and infact cleaned out the thread with a bottam tap. There is another imperial thread type that in all other cases is interchangable except at 1/2 inch size where it binds and cannot be undone. I know mine are ok as I took them out and replaced them as I do every year. the cost of the 8 bolts is just abour £10 the lot for A2 stainless . A4 I feel would be to brittle.
The size of the cut out is a lot small er to remove the old bits than the hole for inserting the new one???
I just cut awat until I could JUST slide the new bit in. I didnt bother keeping the Old caseing as I epoxied up a bit of 1 inch ply and bolted it over the hole with a rubber gasket to seal out water and smell. this proved useful as I needed to inspect down the keel box in Holland and this large access hole was available that I can stick my head right in and have a look. Also (as above) helps when checking and torqueing the keel bolts up evenly once things have settled down and annual inspection
Cheers
Kim
