I use a Nasa as well, its a few inches BEHIND the leading edge of the keel and well positioned to be adversely affected by any pressure wave from the leading edge of the keel.

The good news is ..as Nick says, you can adjust them,and Nasa are very helpfull. I seem to remember I adjusted mine ..while moored! its all in the destructions leaflet.

If your GPS says 4 Knots and your log says 6k what does that mean? ,,, it usually means that you are fighting a 2 knot tide! check your tide table before you fiddle and allow for tide :-) Ive had the log reading 6k and the gps reading 12k, both where right. (alderney to cherbourg)

all Logs are inacurate on S.O.G and distance run, due to tidal flows, so dont rely too heavily on them
