If you chop your hose off at its entry point to the interior, you could fit a long wandering hose like mine. This will let you put the end of the hose where the water is. The bilge is so shallow it doesn't hold much water anyway and the pump will not clear it to the last dregs.

In 9 years the only water I have had inside Ocean Air is rain, some from leaky deck fittings, and a lot in the cockpit lockers when the bottom rudder frame bolts worked lose during a 4 hour spinnaker run at the back of the Wight(top speed 13.8 knots, and transom way down!)
