On the subject of tipping the rudder back, one of the (few) bits we got with our boat was a mysterious big wooden wedge with a rope handle. Fortunately we didn't ditch it and eventually realised (too late last season to try it) that this is the purpose. Helm certainly was rather heavy so look forward to trying this out.
