John, you are indeed a font of wisdom, many thanks for that information. Let's hope that when Sula departs that you will stay around in the forum.

Of course it's a stetson, a sombrero has a curled-up brim and comes to a rounded point; those Saturday-morning westerns at the local cinema are so far back in the mists of time I had forgotton.

I've done some dredging around some Trapper picture archives I have and note that an earlier T500 than mine (build 455) has the logo at the aft end of the line while mine (build 492) in 1980, does not - you can see the pics here:
http://homepage.hispeed.ch/bhny/trapline.html

As I understand it Anstey started building T500s in 1972 and Deacons took over very shortly after when they changed the name to Trapper Yachts, before the first 100 T500s were finished and the second mould built (from one of the last T500 hulls). So I infer from your information that Deacons themselves began T500 construction (perhaps with the second mould) as well as the old Anstey factory still producing a parallel line with the original, C&C supplied one - both built by Trapper Yachts. Which would explain an earlier (well, lower numbered) model having the logo, having been built by Deacons, while mine was an Anstey. Wonder which was the err, preferred, builder???

Best, Brian.
