Hi Vaughn,
Pamino is a T500 based at the Posh end of the Solent, Southsea and she to displays the very same faults as you describe. When we bought her a few years ago from a lifeboat man in Poole, he to mentioned the play in the rudder and advised that it was there some 8 years earlier and had not got any worse. We have had ours apart to look at any remedial repairs, PTFE tape or something similar, but couldn't work out where the problem lay. There is a good piece by west systems on the mods part of the forum and I believe that Frank Marsden who sold his soul by selling his Trapper actually did repair his rudder, as per the west system. We shall be pulling ours apart in the next month or so, feel free to call me on 07866 764 940.
