Subject: Roller reefing ......

I'm almost too embarrassed to ask this but ..... I've been sailing since I was a kid, had loads of yachts and currently sail a T-28 named "Blazer".

Problem is that when I had her out last winter for an insurace survey, I took the opportunity to reposition the forestay attachment, it was attached to the wrong "hole" on the stem fitting so I took it back to where it was designed to be. Unfortunately this involved moving it forward about 3" which or course subtly changed the mast rake and so introduced a degree of lee helm that I'm not happy with. Up until then, the boat had been perfectly balanced.

Blazer is the first boat I've ever had with roller reefing (Furlex) and so now we come to the embarrasing bit, I can't see how to adjust the forestay length. It needs to be about 20mm or so longer, I thought about inserting a "toggle" fitting in between the forestay fork and the stem fitting which would add about 25mm, but I'm sure I must be missing the plot here... surely there is a better (and less "coarse") way of adjusting the forestay length. Is there a bottle screw hidden somewhere inside the foil/drum or something like that ?

Answers on a postcard please ...... or even a reply here would be nice :^)

Thanks in advance, Brian ("Blazer", 1970 T-28 berthed Gosport)
