Hi,

When I brought my T28 back in '99, the previous owner had purchased it with a modified interior. The survey he'd had done in 1997 commented on it and observed that, in the surveyors opinion, the original layout was to be prefered. Because of this, the guy I brought it off had the mods ripped out and the interior returned to standard.

What had been done (because I can still see the outline and mounting holes of the mods on the headlining and floor together with new loo mounts still glassed in etc.) was to move the loo from the forepeak to the port side of the main cabin just abaft the main (mast supporting) bulkhead. Another bulkhead (with a hole for a door)was then fitted just abaft the loo and across the boat from the port side of the boat to the port side of the starboard bunk (if that makes sense). The space from the end of that bulkhead along the line of the stbd bunk to the main bulkhead was than filled in from the top of the stbd bunk to the cabin roof. Then above the foot of the stbd bunk to the stbd cabin side, a horizontal "shelf" about 20" deep was fited (making a trotter box for the bunk). I'm assuming this was then used as a chart table. I'm guessing also that a door was fitted in the new bulkhead to allow access to the loo and forward cabin (or maybe the original main bulkhead door was just moved aft ?).

Anyway, I'm looking seriously at putting it all back that way again (the hard work is still there, i.e. the loo mounts), I'd like a seperate heads and I'm getting real fed up with sleeping with a loo !

Anyone else ever seen a modified T28 interior or can anyone see any flaws in the one outlined above (other than the fact that you loose the port side bunk in the main cabin ?

Regards, Brian
