Well, it was simplicity itself for me but then I have a T500 with a short shaft with the tiller bracket position only a few centimetres above the cockpit sole. Plus the only alternative being to pay to crane in and out - a very persuasive incentive; to avoid that I would have used a very heavy hammer to drift it out. Thankfully, it pushed out smoothly with a broom handle into the netting.

The point of the exercise was a waterlogged and blistered rudder - I spent the winter draining, grinding down and epoxing the whole thing, after checking the shaft security. The surprise was the bouyancy of the assembly when replacing - it needed a firm tension on the line to keep the shaft located when submersing prior to drawing up into position to replace the retaining bolt. There had been a LOT of water in the hollow rudder.
