Nick,

I am on my way to my boat today (Weymouth) to do some maintenance, to do some measurements of the rudder charateristics, and also to fit a Tiller Tamer.
I would like objective data before I start on changes to the rudder.

My real problem is the rate the boat goes to port under power, which may be caused by the boat having the wrong prop??(very large area fixed three blade, with low tip clearance)

I am wondering if the rudder requires less balance in the prop wash, and more out of it. i.e. is the scimitar shape exactly the wrong thing to do??
My last boat had a similarly inclined rudder, but transom hung, a small two blade prop, which tapered wider, forward of the hinge axis, to the tip.
