My prop looks like it came from a narrow boat.

With luck I shouls be able to try out the Tiller Tamer this week.

Prop diameter.

I did a rough sketch. I think a 14" Flex-o-Fold will fit as the hub required for folding places the blades of the prop further back by about 4"; the propshaft is angled down at about 10 deg, the hull slopes up at c. 15 deg.

The sketch indicates that there would then be just over 1" tip clearance.

This would need to be confirmed by careful measurement on the boat, as would the effect of clearance on the rudder.

Most boats will behave in a similar way to my 500, but at a much lower rate. It is the speed that it happens that is my concern.

I have no tiller pilot, but have the bush in the centre of the starboard cockpit locker.

Does moubting the pilot there work in practice?

I tiller loads are subjectivly high, but when measured appear to be well eithin the capacity of a pilot such as the Simrad TP 10.

Frank
