I blame that Mark chap for pushing her so hard when winning all those races in her!

Actually we had a water leak on one keel bolt when we bought Securus though not as bad as you describe. It was fixed by the yard removing the bolt in question, pumping the space full of sikaflex and replacing the bolt. (They are normally studs, even though they are called bolts)

Fin keel trappers are famous for getting the trapper "grin", as the front of the keel sags away slightly leaving a small crack visible from the outside.

Generally speaking this is a DIY fixable thing, though one of the areas to watch out for is corrosion of the bolt/stud where it is open to the sea water.

Even removing the keel completely is relatively simple, unless like me you have a bilge keeler, which involves clever work with the hoist.
