I really like the idea of a university freestyle comp.
Surely there would be plenty of support from contemporary
dance clubs about the country, street dance/hip hop groups,
and from the 1001 salsa clubs out there.
I'm surprised there hasn't been a move to organise such a
university competition before now.

So you could have two big university dance competitions
during the year: the ballroom one, and the one for offbeat/
contemporaty/freestyle, salsa, RnR, whatever else.

One possibility is to have this competition on the Sunday
after IVDA, like making IVDA a two-day thing, but with the
ballroom-only competition on the Saturday and a competition
on the Sunday for other dance styles (offbeat/contemporaty/
freestyle, salsa, RnR). This way, it would still be two
competitions, but it would still all come under the guise
of the "inter-varsity dance association".

If it was totally separate from ivda/ivdc, then I'd propose
a re-think to the name ivda/ivdc so that it shows that it's
purely a ballroom comp. Actually, this new competition
sounds more like what an "inter-varsity dance competition"
should be!
