Race #11...Houston Motorsports Park

They say a picture is worth 1000 words so here goes....simply an unbelievable event, no rain, near perfect atmospheric conditions, and great track prep yielded great results and personal best runs for several teams. It all starts with the Baker family, John Mandabach, and the staff @ HMP. Our sincere thanks for your efforts and your continuing support!

Dean Baker mans the waterbox

The Abbott's ran a personal best et en route to the win

Roy Pigford was in his 4th final in 8 races

Semi's...Larry Pearce fought chassis isues (notice the "tractor marks") but clinched the '09 Championship

Two time and defending Champion, Joe Pigford, tuner Billy Stocklin, Merv, Vernon, Mike, and all of the "Pig Pen" took full advantage of his Reher-Morrison power and the rare combination of air/track conditions and reset the record...4.5782 @ 152.59! He had run a 4.5955 @ 151.82 earlier...right out of the box! This pic is of Joe at the scales which were operated by Gary Lidiak & his sons, John Michael & Clayton of Lidiak Motorsports. Gary verified Joe's weight and signed the tech sheet. A fuel sample from the Pigford's record setting GXP was tested for specific gravity, color, and odor. The results revealed the fuel was VP C-25...the spec fuel for TPSA.

Team NRC/Slick Rick had a bitter sweet day. All three team cars, Otwell (driven @ HMP by Jeff Naiser), the Cowger/Wood entry, and new Champ, Pearce were set on "kill" trying to take full advantage of the conditions, be first in the '50's", and get the record. All struggled with chassis issues, but in his 1st round match up with "Pig", Pearce made his only clean run of the event. This pass clinched the Larry's and NRC/Slick Rick's first Championship.

The Talley/Nickens team has made big strides lately, and they too ran a personal best @ HMP.

A.D. Rigmaiden made his first TPSA outing with his new ride. Car looks awesome and sounds good but chassis man, David Bowie, wants to check a few things out before they turn 'er loose. A.D. had his sons Aaron & Addleton to keep him straight...LOL.

Donald "the Boxman" Hughes, HR, and Dyno made the tow. Hughes couldn't get by Roy Pigford 1st round, but was layin' the tree over...as usual.

Clint Crownover has all of the hay in the barn (for now) so he & wife Laurie, his Mom, and Lonnie were on hand. Rumor has some new HP in the works for C3 next year. C3 may be tellin' DH his time is limited in the Cavalier!

Aaron Hubbard was on hand, but couldn't talk DH out of the chair. His daughter, Alana, celebrated her 5th birthday earlier in the week and served as the "official" chip drawer for 1st round.

Interesting self portrait of Joe Golden of Hot Rod Gossip fame. Joe's always around HMP promoting events or just shootin' some pics of the action. You'll see some of Joe's work here....thanks Joe!

Mike Morgan, the founder of the TPSA was on hand to check out how his brainstorm was fairing. He gave favorable marks and we enjoyed having him around. Also, Randy Elliott & Austin came out to lend Boxman a hand, and Todd Bailey was on hand as well. Old friends Steve & Sharon Dallas were checkin' us out....maybe a TPSA car in their future?

Congratulations to the new Champ Larry Pearce, the new record holder Joe Pigford, and all of the teams for another outstanding event. Thanks also to Gary, John Michael, & Clayton Lidiak for the thankless job of running the scales. This is a tough job that no one wants yet all of the teams ask for it. Our thanks to everyone @ HMP & especially the fans for another great season and we're looking forward to 2010!
