Run quick 4 double elimination ladder
rumor is we almost have enough old tpsa members to do this. Might even talk ro into setting up his flag car for another?
For the TPSA racers looking for somewhere to go...NHRA Top Sportsman is an option. Quality tracks, all run fields, just have to dial 7.99 or quicker & every car in TPSA can do that! It is full tree, break out racing.

Now you guys think that this is bracket racing and hate bracket racers, don't come. You guys that think you have to run "heads up" or "it ain't racing", don't come. Those that have the guts to run a car that has a .30 spot on them and can run a .45 but has to fight you at the stripe, cmon in.
For the spectators, Two TPSA cars leaving .30 seconds apart is "heads up".
A top sportsman dragster leaving next to a blown altered .30 seconds apart is fun to watch.
We are exploring the interest in this travelling show for next year. If your interested send "I'm in" to "extremesponsor@yahoo.com.
NHRA D-4 names new Director... -- DH, 08/30/12 11:18am
Paul Bailey has been named NHRA South Central Division director. Bailey spent the last 20 years working as a full-time staff member at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, an NHRA member track in Division 1. During his tenure, he has been responsible for all facets of the facility, from starter to tech inspection and race coordinator to track preparation. Most recently, he was responsible for developing and executing domestic motorsports enthusiast events and was co-dragstrip manager.
"Paul brings a wealth of knowledge in every discipline necessary to successfully manage and grow a division," said Josh Peterson, NHRA vice president of racing administration. "He worked at one of the most active dragstrips in the country for more than 20 years and during that time was involved in nearly every aspect of the business."
"Being an NHRA division director is a lifelong dream," said Bailey, who will be relocating to the Houston area this fall. "I am a hard worker who is willing to learn and can't wait to get settled into my new role, meet the current member tracks, and begin developing programs and adding facilities to position Division 4 as one of the best in the country."
Bailey begins his new role as Division 4 director Oct. 1, working out of the Division 4 office in Conroe, Texas.
NHRA's South Central Division is responsible for conducting and overseeing drag racing activities in Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Currently, there are 11 NHRA member tracks in the region: two in Louisiana, one in New Mexico, two in Oklahoma, and six in Texas.
Jeff, Steve and I would commit if we ran the same basic rules of the old tpsa, with a spec head and intake combo and no restrictions on the short block. We feel like a "spec" head should be a newer design such as a headhunter, dart or how about Rick's new 20 degree from Brodix cnc'd out of the box. Almost the same money, but will keep the cars in the 70's and maybe the 60's. Limit the cam to 980" lift or so to make it easier on the valvetrain. Back to steel 1 piece converters. If anyone is serious about running with us this would make it affordable and still give the fans a fast show. The heads, intake, and cam would be easy to police. Rick could serial # all the heads and intake on his cnc machine to each customer. Just trying to keep it Simple, Affordable, and Fast. Thanks, Gary -- Winmil Racing (Gary & Steve), 08/ 8/12 10:58am

Here is how I would propose we proceed. Step 1.) form a three man team to review and write the bid package to submit to the engine builders Step 2, We solicite the engine builders that want to build a spec TPSA Engine for the 2013 season Phase in by Mid year, Step 3. We take to the forums to raise new racers, just like church each member commits to bringing in one more member, the goal is to have 8-16 guys ready to write a check in January for the new motor program, and willing to race under current rules with weight brakes, if you cant add the weight, dont race, your to quick lay out till the new motors are ready, detune ytour stuff or race somewhere else. Lastly, I will work with Hubbard on a schedule, and drag in some real promotions to bring some exposure to what we are doing. I know you all have opinions so now is a good time to put them out there. I would add, if you cant put your name on your thoughts dont post. I am taking all emails on the subject at jhcmitch@hotmail.com -- mitchell, 08/12/12 10:42pm

Hello from the Hill Country.... -- DH, 08/ 4/12 1:37am My name is DH & I used to race TPSA... Since Kay and I retired at the end of last year we found there was an entire world out there that didn't revolve around drag racing! I know, it surprised us as well but we've enjoyed the time off and doing things we haven't done for years.
A couple of the racers have kept in touch and I can relate to those that want a place to race, and those like Mitchell that are trying to get something going... heck, I have three cars in the shop myself and I'm not ready to sell out at this point but nothing has really grabbed me by the shorts and said "let's go!" I am entertaining an offer to go T/S racing next year, but if this, or something like it, grows some legs I'd reconsider, and I bet I'm not alone.
I've decided it was time to share some of the best suggestions (in my opinion as a racer only) that have piled up on my desk during the past few months. Since Mitchell keeps trying, I can lay this on him, and since he's on vacation, I can beat him up a bit before he knows it! So grab a chair, and your favorite beverage, and give these a look. Feel free to add your opinions, insights, or criticisms and to let Mitchell know how you feel. Hope you guys & your families are all well, happy, and confortable!
1). Spec motor program would go into effect for the 2014 season. 1050-1100hp bullets for $20k (or less) carb to pan and will run for a season with normal maintenance. Each bullet to be serialized and drawn at random by the teams. "Claimer" rule could be instituted if desired. Engine provider to be determined by a history of providing a reliable product that can be raced for a season with only normal maintenance, deliver exceptional customer service, is able to deliver on time, wants the business & the headaches, & to be associated with the class, and a Texas company (for ez service, freight costs, etc). Very preliminary research suggests this is obtainable and costs could be reduced by manufacturer's involvement in the project.
2). For 2013, current TPSA bullets to be grandfathered and weight to be added to achieve parity. Any legal "spec" 2014 bullet would not be subject to a weight penalty. Projected et with C-16 should be in the 4.80 range in good air.
3). Other restrictions could be applied as desired: ie,... alum convertors, digital boxes, tire size, beadlocks, auto shifters, etc.
The advantage to utilizing a N/A motor is that you could race in NHRA/IHRA classes (that don't allow n20), quick brackets/indexes... You also eliminate the obvious temptation to "accidentally" put a bigger pill in, improve reliability, and reduce tech.
**Advantages... relatively low cost, season long reliability without expensive updates or repairs, a very competitive field, allows current combo's to play (even Fords) or those mega hp teams that would play within the parameters.**
Plenty to think about or discuss but I figured this would get you started! Need a strong "policeman", and a thick skinned “Dictator” to enforce the distribution of "lead trophies" and there can be 0 tolerance.
Remember... these are only suggestions for your review & consideration. I'm sure any input would be appreciated by those that want to have another chance to race TRUE heads up. Thanks, DH

Red Rocket -- KCTM, 07/11/12 9:49pm
Breaking News: Destiny aka the bullet out of "The Red Rocket" owned by C&W Racing, Built by NRC, Crew Chief'd by KC, Drivin by Ricky Bobby, Current and Forever will be TPSA ET Record Holding bullet and entire drive line is now Sold! Lol but in all seriousness I've been around TPSA ever since I can remember, back in 03 when dad drove Public Enemy. I've lived and breathed it for 9 years, i've learned everything I know today thro the people involved with the association, trying to make a name for us and to go "Fast." It's been my life for so long it's hard to "just run something else." It's not the same anymore, almost feels like part of me died when the TPSA did......... I'm about to turn the page on my racing career and try some "other stuff" based off everything I learned running Texas Prostock! Just wanted to say Thanks! To anyone who ever helped me with anything! (To many to list! Lol) PS- Yes we sold our drive line, but the Red Rocket should be back out in a couple months or so! :D

Slop from the "Pigpen" -- Boss Hog, 07/ 2/12 2:07pm
Haven't hit the Msg Brd. lately so thought I'd chime in with a view from the trough. Old news that I sold MY car to Charlie Swindoll. Bought Roy's car and we've about got it ready to go test. Hope that doesn't turn out to be a mistake. The old car ran really good for me and Jack. I like Top Sportsman OK but it takes 4 days to run a race which really brings home how good we had it in TPSA. Show up on Sat., Race Sat. nite, drive home or spend the nite and drive home Sunday!!! Done Deal!!! Don't see it coming back though. Hat's off to Mitchell for trying but the guys that didn't show up for DH still aren't interested and 5 or 6 cars aren't a big enough turnout to make the deal work. Anyhow I miss it but I've changed so much on my car now that I really wouldn't want to go back to TPSA set-up (add weight, change fuel, etc.) just to make 2 or 3 races. Congrats to Erica on her 1st Pro Stock Win!!! Hometown girl doing GOOD!!! All for now.....Ck'ya'll later!!!
Breaking News!.... The Swindoll family is reporting that Charlie Swindoll purchased Joe Pigford's car (running) Saturday. Charlie plans to join Joe in the T/S ranks and Joe will move over to brother Roy's car. Joe's car is a proven 7.0 @ 190 hitter so Charlie will have a very competitive combo right from the git go. -- agent 660, 06/10/12 11:23am

May 19th Update -- Mitchell, 04/ 7/12 11:23am
We have 3 TPSA cars and 2 other fast rides commited to the 19th, might make a nice payout!
For Immediate Release: -- Jeff Mitchell, 04/ 6/12 12:05pm
The Texas Drag Racing League is excited to announce it has confirmed its first date for its planned five races to run its Super 4.70 Heads Up Index Race, a Pro Tree no handicap event at San Antonio Raceway. The format is a no limit, absolute all run, of any combination, the stated rules are two; must be a door car with working doors, and no throttle stops. Everything else runs. We run two time trials before eliminations, the pairings will be drawn from a hat, you must be in the lanes within 15 minutes of first call, the lanes will close after that and you will not be allowed to run.
GTX Fleet Services, a much needed sponsor, will pay $200 cash to the perfect 4.700 run during qualifications and $200 cash to the first Perfect 4.700 winning run during eliminations. If this second bonus is not awarded it will roll to the next race and so on until the end of the five race series, at which time it will be awarded to the Driver with the most round wins during the series.
The good folks at SAR have agreed to allow the car and driver in for no charge, regular track gate will be charged for all others, we will collect $200 per car in advance before the first qualifying hit, or you can preregister for a $25 savings up until May 1st 2012. If you do not have your official window sticker in place for the start of the first hit, you will not be allowed in the lanes.
The payout will be as follows (based on a minimum of 8 cars entered).
Winner: $1,000
Runner up: $ 500
Semi Loser: $ 100
Purse will adjust with car count up or down. Those interested in participating must indicate your intentions by email before May the 16th with your car information, your name and your tow vehicle license plate to obtain your free admission, if you are not on the list you will not be permitted in at no charge, and there will be no refunds paid for admission. The email for this is: jhcmitch@hotmail.com or just click on my name in blue above.
We are looking for additional financial partners to participate in a couple of race day categories such as:
The Tale Of The Tape: the round winner with the tightest margin of victory.
.
The Who Got The Light: First Perfect reaction Time in Competition Rounds.
The Hard Luck Winner: Judged by Jeff Mitchell for the worst mechanical failure.
The Bad Beat: Best Wasted Hole Shot on a losing round of competition.
The Sleepy Bear: Worst Light of the day in competition.
You can offer a cash prize, gift certificate, or hard assets in the name of your company for any of these awards, give us an email and some decals and the winner must display your sticker to be eligible. So come on all you self employed gear heads, give something back to this sport of ours and buck up.
April 21, 2012 Houston Outlaw Race canceled. -- Bonnie, 04/ 5/12 2:52pm
April 21, 2012 Houston Outlaw Race canceled. We have decided to cancel the April 21, 2012 race at Ben Bruce memorial Raceway. I have received confirmation that several OTTA cars are out for the April 21st race due to various reasons and will not be able to get the cars back up running in time for the race. I believe that it is in our best interest to cancel the April race at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone but I appreciate the loyalty and honesty of the racers keeping us informed. Fred is still willing to host a Jack pot race if any of you want to go out that day and race. He will also host a 6.60, 6.0, and a 5.75 index race with a guaranteed payout if enough cars will commit to the event. He will hold any other index class as a jack pot race if there is at least 6 cars in the group. Thank you all for supporting the Houston Outlaw Races and the last thing we want to do is give you a less than expected event with low car counts. We will see you May 12, 2012 at Ben Bruce Memorial Raceway with another great event.
TPSA???? -- Steve Miller, 03/31/12 1:16pm
I have a quick question for everyone who looks at this site. Gary and I went to the ADRL event yesterday and had the pleasure of running into/visiting with several members of TPSA (Pigfords-Roy&Joe,Rick&Kevin Cowger, Darrell Wood, Robert Malone, Xtreme Champ Larry Pearce). On the ride home we discussed how we enjoyed visiting/racing with these guys. Now the real question, what does everyone think about a series like a Texas Outlaw Pro Stock? Keeping the same fundamental rules as are here now but open up the induction to perhaps allow some of the Top Sportsman cars to run with us heads-up. But again keep this a naturally aspirated class, if nitrous is on cars bottles must be removed and lines capped. We may have to tweak some of the rules like up the cu. in. limit to like a 632 for the T/S guys but drop the weight for a conventional headed motor down to say 2350# and base starting at 2400# for other heads. Keep everything on a 4.84" bore spacing as rules are now and converter driven powerglide transmission (No Bruno or anything of that nature). I don't have the contacts to kick something like this off, but was just a idea to perhaps getting the cars dusted off and on the track and inviting some friends with a quick car to come play heads-up. I feel certain we would have to just run for entry fees for a bit unless we could get a little help, but it beats the purse the cars are getting in the barn....lol. Maybe like a race a month or so, meet up with a prepped track line them up race and enjoy each others company. I do know this after yesterday, the ADRL T/S field is now aware of what a conventional headed BBC is capable of. My contact is (979)549-8391 and Gary's is (979)709-9993 if anyone wants to contact with their ideas. Thanks Steve Miller
ADRL -- Fan, 04/ 3/12 10:39am
Good Job C&W Racing on making the 16 car feild at ADRL.That all motor 565 ran real good. Lost first round but still made the show. Lost by 0008 at the finsh line. Glad to see Texas Pro Stock motor make the show.
How about this for the remainder of 2012, six races, San Antonio and Dallas (or the Dale) . 4.70 index on a heads up pro tree. run any combination provided it has doors and can pass tech on NHRA rules. Only rule is no throttle stops, have to think about Nitrous cars with there electronics. Entry fee is $200 per car 100% pays to cars. I will put another $200 to the perfect 4.700 during time trials.
We race as Texas Outlaw 4.70
If I get 8 solid committments I will put out a schedule and give us something to do.

Well the board's been a bit quiet so I thought I'd share what happens when some of the Hill Country Boyz get together. Donald the "Boxman" Hughes came over for lunch (he thought...LOL) and ol' DH put him to work. With the recent rains allowing some burning to take place, DH put Donald to work runnin' the tractor and stacking brush. Later they torched 'er off and enjoyed some bench racing and had a TPSA board meeting, campfire style.
Our sincere condolences to Randy Elliott and his family on the recent loss of his Mother. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. -- DH, 12/ 5/11 9:29pm

What's the chance that you guys possibly expand your show into something like this?http://www.nashootout.com/ -- All Motor!, 11/30/11 10:37am
a few more or even one more class that's all motor stock suspension like 28x10.5/275 dr cars, would be a great addition to the show.http://www.nashootout.com/
Just want to wish everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving" !!! Eat lots of Turkey and Mincemeat pie, watch lots of football and snore 'til your hearts content when you fall asleep in the recliner. (Least wise that's what I plan on doing). Anybody heard any good racin' rumors ??? Somebody told me that RO was gonna drive one of Force's funnycars this comin' season?? Between TPSA , ADRL, and NHRA I don't see how the guy is goin' to have time to take care of the "three s's"??? Also heard that Kevin and Rick C. are workin' on a new "Tractor Drive" deal that is suppose to improve their already awsome 60' times by a "nickle" !!! Got the idea from a "Star Wars" movie. We're lookin into it but haven't been able to locate a consistant source of "Nuclear Fuel Rods" so far. Damn 'shore got the Feds attention though !!! LOL -- Boss Hog (Stir Crazy), 11/23/11 9:54am

The picture below epitomizes the attitude, spirit, and principals that the TPSA was founded upon. Not the subject matter, or the fact he's won 3 Championships; not the fact he's a current record holder and a threat to win any race he enters or another Championship. Nope, it's the unabashed joy in his face and the unmistakable pleasure of being in one of his favorite places (a racecar), and that he is doing something he truly enjoys! Thanks to scale master/photographer Randy Elliott for capturing this unforgettable shot @ Evadale during qualifying!
The 2012 Schedule has been roughed in. No specific dates are available yet as the tracks are still waiting on IHRA & NHRA to announce their divisional schedules. The venues that have committed are: Dallas Raceway (4), Evadale Raceway (3), and San Antonio (1) + a good possibility of another one at SAR after the schedules are released. 8-10 events are planned for next year, but schedules are always subject to change. Our 2012 season will begin in March and end October 31st and we hope to have all of the dates firmed up by the end of this month. Any updates will be posted here & on the TPSA facebook page.
Also, the 2011 TPSA Championship Banquet is planned for either Saturday, January 14 or the 21st. That date will be firmed up soon. Thanks, -- DH, 11/ 5/11 2:38pm

2012 SnS Series -- Dave Donalson, 10/19/11 9:36am
We are looking to run four races next year at Royal Purple Raceway. Two in the spring and two in the fall. The dates will be set later this year. We are also looking at running a new class which some of you might want to get in on, a 4.70 index. This class will be open to all vehicles. delay box and throttle stop can NOT be used. they don't have to be removed from the car, but they must be zeroed out or unpluged. I know its hard to say right now since yall haven't made your schedule either. For more information you can swing by SnS Message board Thanks Dave
Joe Mc from Nitro Fog Photo's has his pics up from the HMP race last Saturday. Click on the link to check 'em out and buy a couple of your favorites while you're there. He really got some great shots! Thanks Joe..
Congrats to Roy on your win. Your hard work this year finally paid off. My actions on the starting line was out of line and I apolagize to the Assosciation for them. There is a time and place for everything, and that was not the time or place. -- RO, 10/10/11 11:10am

Roy wanted me to thank all the guys that made this weekends win possible (he don't do computers). THANKS to Shane, Vernon, Chad, "Animal Jack", John, Ryan and Charlotte for the sandwiches. Too bad about Richard's starter. Would have preferred a race win to a single but wins are hard to come by and you've got to take'em how ever you get'um. Condolences to the "Winmill" team for wrecking their car. Hope the fix ain't too painful. And Congrats to Robert Malone for his first win in Pro. Whoever I forgot to thank, don't take it personal.... I'm doing good to remeber what day of the week it is anymore. See ya'll at the "Dale" !!! -- Boss Hog (Still Huntin' Acorns), 10/10/11 4:10pm

Fuel -- Steve Miller, 10/ 5/11 4:25pm
Was wondering if anyone carries extra C-25 that they may be willing to sell to me at the track Saturday night? Thanks
I've had a few calls about the progress on the Cavalier and been meaning to post an update. As most of you know, I tested the wall @ DTR early this year and the wall won! Clint and I decided to take it back to it's maker, Jerry Haas Race Cars, for the repairs. We got it back several weeks ago and we're tickled with the results...on time, under budget, and better than new. Hey, it's a 2012 from the firewall forward...LOL. Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Haas, John, Dan and all the crew at JHRC for their hospitality and treating us like WJ instead of the Hill County Boyz we are! Jim Hooker & Son did an amazing job on the the body work & paint....also on time and on budget. It was a pleasure doing business with these guys but I hope we don't need their services again any time soon. :)
