Don't know what else to say or how to explain it any better to you Jason. You've had several guys try to explain it, including an ex Pro Stock Truck and long time Comp Eliminator owner/driver. Believe me, he knows what he's talking about with more experience (particularly SBC) than any other two members combined. You can learn from folks that have been there and done that if you're willing to pay attention. There are numerous combinations that don't fit the TPSA rules and the one you're fixated on is one of them. Sorry if your bullet doesn't fit, but the rules have been the same for going on 7 years now, so it's a safe bet you didn't build it for TPSA competition. (NT) -- DH, 04/25/07 9:34pm

We're researching the LSX block now. The BBC's are limited to 4.840 bore spacing, 9.800 or 10.200 deck height only, which makes some blocks illegal in TPSA and the LSX may fall into the same catagory for much the same reasons. The SBC debate always gets the board going, but don't look for any SBC rule changes regarding heads or valve angle. A while back, VooDoo posted some info on some trick new 18* SBC stuff that he thought might be competitive. Could be an option for a die hard SBC racer, but there's not much time between rounds for normal maintenance of a 10,000 rpm SBC at one of our events. For more SBC discussions, check out the archives. (NT) -- DH, 04/25/07 1:00am

wcs-10, the TPSA rules have remained virtually intact since '01 and major changes aren't likely. Consistant rules provide the stability and credibility to a class that encourages racers to build to a performance level they're comfortable with. Resources vary, of course, and some racers can spend whatever it takes to be competitive right out of the box, while others have to be more methodical. The bottom line is pretty simple: TPSA is not bracket/index racing nor is it structured to run every conceivable combination. The vast majority of members said no to the idea of a performance "cap" last year as it would limit progression and become more of an "index" race. As costs continue to escalate, and new performance levels are reached, that may change, but isn't it interesting that none of the "bottom half" cars responded to your post? In fact, of the 13 responses, 7 were made by yourself or other non members, 4 members supported the status quo, 1 member expressed concern about the $$, (NT) -- and BAM BAM was himself...LOL.Personally, I'd rather run wide open, first to the finish line wins, at the back of the pack in TPSA than return to NHRA, IHRA, brackets, or indexes. It's just more FUN to me, win or lose, than the other options. See ya in the lanes.......DH, 02/28/07 10:12pm
Perhaps you missed the point of my reply. While opinions and suggestions are always welcome, the Members viewpoint is the first priority. Before any major rule changes, such as NOS, blowers, lenco's, five speeds, spread port heads, roadsters, dragsters, funny cars, etc. (don't laugh...they've all been suggested at one time or another by someone), the majority of the Members would have to agree and the intent, and spirit of the original rules considered. Also, the "steering committee" would have to be in agreement. You can see how allowing every combination out there isn't feasible or possible. It's not intended to alienate anyone, it's just the facts. Whoever you're going to drive for built their combo to our rules (probably over a period of time) and I'm guessing they wouldn't have been overjoyed to see rule revisions at every turn during the process. The stability of the rules was probably part of the decision your car owner made to join TPSA. We do this for the FUN!!
