Subject: The racing community lost a very dear, close friend early this morning when Lynn Nickerson lost his long and couragous battle with cancer.

Lynn has been a huge part of my family's racing for decades. Long before he gained nationwide notoriety he was announcing local events... specifically motocross. He perfected his trademark smooth style and perhaps was best known for his incredible ability to recall the smallest intimate detail of all the racers and crews from a seemingly limitless memory. This trait personified his long announcing career.

Lynn announced many of my MX/SX races in my "2nd" motorcycle career and almost all of my son's battles through the years. From Aaron's early local races, to later in the National wars, AMA, GNC, NMA, and many others, it was thrilling to hear Lynn do the play by play and interview Aaron on the podium. If it was a big race, Lynn was there to call it. More importantly, his positive influence on a group of young racers can't be overstated.

It wasn't too many years until the NHRA and other "big time" opportunities came along for Lynn. I was honored that he was there to announce my modest victories in drag racing, particularly the larger event wins and Championship Banquets. After Aaron's motorcycle career was over, it was very special for Kay and I to hear Lynn announcing Super Comp at the NHRA Divisionals and Nationals that Aaron competed in. We made plans every year for Lynn to MC the TPSA Banquet but it never happened.. his busy schedule or illness always seemed to thwart the best laid plans.

May Lynn's family, friends, and extended racing family find solace in that Lynn no longer suffers and that they are in our hearts and prayers.

God Speed Lynn my friend, rest in peace....
