No one has 1300hp. Yet. It will come to pass eventually. just like NHRA Pro Stock engines that are in a constant R&D situation, these engines will gain about 10+hp per year. We are seeing 1240hp engines become the norm! 1260hp is out there now and 1300hp engines will be out there in the coming years. Its just the natural progression of race engine development and nothing will stop it short of a re-write of the rule book.

[> [> [> [> Suspect natural attrition will be the demize of "Extreme" sooner or later. Pro could be the wave of the future but its too early to tell yet. Same ole' problems will still exist ( costs, rules, enforcement, participation, parity ). DH been fightin' this bear long as I've known him. -- Porky Pig, 08/26/11 11:07am

[> [> [> [> The short answer is XTREME is the backbone. The teams, engine builders, cylinder head guys, and everyone it takes to perform at this level have done an incredible job. Their perfomance is discussed on every major message board, among engine and cylinder head builders, and bench racing sessions from coast to coast ...as ZZ top said "they're bad, they're nationwide" & beyond. The new PRO class has shown some potential to help us grow but like all of racing, it's car count that will determine how long a class survives. The Houston area recently lost the SnS Index Series (they're looking for a new venue now) and other groups are facing the same challenge. The TPSA has been truly blessed to have the support of our host tracks, sponsors, fans, and media coverage over the past few years. But it all starts with the race teams and their dedication to the organization, and for that I thank them all! -- DH, 08/26/11 11:59am
